Master Simon Negus

Master Simon Negus began training in the Shotokan style Karate in 1983 in a south London based school. A move to South Lambeth brought him closer to the London Judo and Karate Kai based in Lansdowne Way, which later became the Budo Centre under Sensei Syd Hoare.
Simon was introduced to the club by a family member and discovered Taekwondo under Master G Preece 3rd Dan at that Time. HIs first tutorage came from Mr D Matthews 3rd Dan who ran the juniors section for some years until progressing into the senior section at the age of 13.
Training at a martial arts centre allowed access to other style being Tai Chi Chuan, Aikido, and judo where other instructors were on hand for advice and training tips.
Master Simon got his 1st Dan in 1989, 2nd dan 1991 and 3rd Dan 1993 staying that grade for 9years until being promoted to 4th Dan in 2001. His most recent promotion to 5th Dan Master was in 2005.
Master Simon has taken an avid interest in maintaining high technical standards and applied to and did join the technical committee members under Master Lennox (7thDan) but changed his concentration to assisting the further standardisation and development of poomsae competition in the UK and was made London Poomsae Squad Coach over 2years ago. Now he assists as southern coach with Master Sumner from Living Well.
Master Simon has also competed in Poomsae for some years travelling to France, Denmark and across the country winning awards, the latest being current British Champion 2008 in the 2nd Senior (section 31-40 years).
Master Simon Negus continues to comete and assist in this development of poomsae in UK.
