Dobok Etiquette
Dobok Etiquette
The traditional Korean Taekwondo Dobok or uniform is designed for the free movement of the practice of the martial artist. The white suit has the meaning of purity of the whole body from head to toe. The V-neck style is unique to the WTF style of uniform worn which offers the complete look that stays unhindered during full contact sport fighting. The Dobok is symbolic representing the practitioners respect for their own look in the self expression of their own unique style of Taekwondo that develops from within them through years of training.
This respect is also shown through their appearance in the Dojang and the Dobok must be worn with pride, kept clean, pressed and neat. Worn on the Dobok should be the associated style badges for their governing body and their club. Each should also be WTF approved normally showing a badge at the base of the V-neck.

These are the badges that must be worn on the HTA Club Dobok.
The Dobok should be folded during carriage to allow for the best prevention of unwanted creases this can be done as follows. The diagram shows the Korean preferred method of folding the Dobok.

With the Dobok comes the coloured belt. In Korean it is called the Tee. For full details follow the link on the previous pages for Gradings and the meanings of the belts. Below are illustrations on how to tie the belt and apply it to the dobok.
